A 27-year-old network engineer associated with Uttar Pradesh National Informatics Centre unit was killed allegedly by some persons here, even as his family members alleged the role of a BSP MLA from Gorakhpur behind the murder, police said today.
The dead body of Shikhar Srivastava, a resident of Bahraich, was found here in Badaosarai road in Balrahi area this morning with marks of sharp edge weapons on his body, Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdul Hameed said.
"The family members of the engineer alleged the role of BSP MLA from Bansgaon seat in Gorakhpur Vijay Anand Bajpai behind the incident," he said.

According to the victim's family, the MLA's wife had allegedly taken Rs 3.5 lakh from Shikhar promising him better job but could not fulfill her promise.
Shekhar was asked to visit the MLA's residence in Lucknow yesterday but later he did not return and his body was recovered, the SP said, adding that a probe has been ordered in the matter.
The role of the MLA in the incident will be ascertained in the probe, the SP said, adding that a case has been registered in this connection and efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.
