Nickel prices moved up by 1.06 per cent to Rs 916.50 per kg in futures trading today as participants enlarged positions amid pick up in demand from alloy-makers at the domestic spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery September rose by Rs 9.60, or 1.06 per cent to Rs 916.50 per kg in business turnover of 3,451 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in October was trading higher by Rs 9.20, or 1.01 per cent to Rs 921.50 per kg in 172 lots.

Analysts said expansion of positions by traders, driven by pick up in demand from alloy-makers in the physical market and a firm trend in select base metals overseas, helped nickel prices to trade higher at futures trade.
