NSE Nifty zoomed to an all-time high of 9,173, gaining 30 points amid short-covering in view of March month F&O expiry as also the passing of GST bills.
The four key GST legislations were successfully passed yesterday in the Lok Sabha after a host of amendments moved by the Opposition.

The Nifty midcap and smallcap indices soared higher by 0.33 per cent and 0.98 per cent, respectively.
On the sector front, Nifty realty and bank indices pocketed gains above 1 per cent, while pvt banks, PSU banks, and financial services indices extended their gains from previous sessions.
On the negative end, Nifty metal, pharma and IT indices declined slightly to restrict overall market movement.
A total of 1,076 scrips advanced, 556 declined, while 74 remained unchanged.
Major gainers from the 50-share NSE pack were Adani Ports 5.70 per cent. HDFC Bank 2.63 per cent, Eicher Motors 2.40 per cent, Bharti Airtel 1.84 per cent and Indusund 1.72 per cent.
However, IDEA fell by 2.08 per cent, BHEL 2.03 per cent, ONGC 1.63 per cent, Coal India 1.56 per cent and Tata Steel 1.42 per cent.
Turnover in the cash segment rose to Rs 42,229.30 from Rs 31,914.95 crore yesterday.
A total of 19,801.89 lakh shares changed hands in 9,835,611 trades. The market capitalisation of listed firms stood at Rs 11,928,105 crore.
