Nine inmates of a home for women in Jalpaiguri district were missing when a district administration team visited the home, official sources said today.
The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and the District Social Welfare Officer visited the home, 'Ashray' and found that there were 21 inmates though the register had names of 30 inmates, Jalpaiguri District Magistrate Rachna Bhagat said.
The home was run by Chandana Chakraborty, arrested in connection with the alleged baby sale racket.
Some of the women in the home were found to be pregnant and send to Jalpaiguri district hospital last night, the DM said.
