Nine killed, five injured as tanker hits car

Nine people were killed and five others injured today when their car was hit by a tanker in Purenderpur area here, the police said.

The car carrying passengers from Gorakhpur to Sonauli was hit by a tanker on Devpur-Nepal road killing seven persons on the spot, they said.

The injured were rushed to the hospital, where two died during treatment. The condition of others was stated to be stable, the police said.

Meanwhile, a government spokesperson in Lucknow said Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath has condoled the death of nine people in the incident and directed for proper treatment of the injured.
