Niti Aayog's Helath Index, putting Kerala on top among large states on overall health performance was recognition of the achievements and steps taken in the sector after the CPI-M led LDF government came to power, state Health Minister K K Shailaja said here today.
"The report was a recognition of the achievements and steps taken in the health field after the CPI(M) led LDF government came to power," she said.
"As per the Niti Ayog report, Kerala achieved the honour by securing 76.55-80.00 score, she said in a press release.
Rajasthan, Bihar and Odisha are among those which have performed poorly on the index.
The objective was to turn them into being 'patient friendly and centres of excellence', she said.
A total of 170 PHCs were being taken up for upgradation as Family Health Centres, the minister said.
