Services of the heritage Nilgiris Mountain Rail between Mettupalayam and Coonoor will remain suspended for the fourth consecutive day tommorrow due to ongoing track restoration work following landslides.
Heavy rains which lashed the area resulted in landslides and uprooting of trees on the track between Kallar and Aderley stations, forcing cancellation of services from Sunday last.
Though works to restore the track have been in progress for the last couple of days, more trees got uprooted and fell on the track, necessitating the announcement of the cancellation of train on a daily basis, railway sources said.
In view of the unfinished restoration work, services stand cancelled from Mettupalayam to Coonoor for the fourth day tomorrow also, they said.
