West Bengal state BJP president Dilip Ghosh today termed the first anniversary of the TMC government after it won a second term as a year marked by "despair, political violence and death of democracy" in the state.

"Every government has the right to propagate about its achievements. But what has this state government done in last one year. In last one year after coming to power the year has been marked with political violence, despair and murder of democracy in Bengal," Ghosh said.

Ghosh said the recent violence in the municipal polls has shown how people are "not allowed to vote freely and fairly" in the polls.

"What kind of development is the state talking about when the people are not allowed to vote freely," Ghosh said.

Meanwhile, former CPI(M) MLA Mafooza Khatoon today joined BJP in the presence of Ghosh and other leaders.
