The 35th National Games will be held in Kerala as scheduled from January 31 to February 14, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced today, putting to rest speculations about postponement.

"National Games will be held as scheduled. There is no question of postponement or delay from the current schedule," National Games Co-ordination Committee Chairman S M Bali told a press meet here.

The announcement was made after a high-level IOA team, headed by Bali and Technical Conduct Committee Chairman K Murugan, evaluated various aspects of preparedness including infrastructure and equipment.

Confirming that the event would be held as per schedule, the team members expressed satisfaction over the arrangements in the state after a two-day tour of various venues.

Murugan said stadia and other infrastructure for the event were of good standards and the delegation had suggested some improvements in certain areas.

"As of now, there is no question about the event. But, certainly there has to be improvement in some aspects. We have given directions for that. They have to be completed on a war footing," he said.

Murugan also said the team would visit the state again by January 27 to check the status of improvements as suggested.

State Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan was also present.
