No move to divide Belagavi district, Thimmappa

: No proposal for division of Belagavi district has come to his department and hence the question of dividing the district does not arise, said Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa here today.

Speaking to reporters after conducting a review meeting with the officials here, he said similarly there is no proposal of increasing the number of talukas and hoblis either, in the state.

On the demand of leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Jagdish Shettar that two days should be reserved to discuss the Mahadayi issue in the winter session of Legislature in Belagavi,Thimmappa said all subjects pertaining to the debate are decided by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) and any issue can come up for debate.
 

Six talukas of Belagavi district had come under drought conditions and officials had been instructed to work on a war footing to ensure that there is no shortage of drinking water, fodder and rural employment, he said to a question.
