No provision to grant patta for those in 'Kanmai': TN Minister

Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister R B Udayakumar today told the Assembly that there was no provision to provide free house site patta for those dwelling in land classified as a water body.

During question hour, AK Bose (Madurai-North) wanted to know if steps would be taken for issuing free house site patta for people living in

Karumbalai-Shenbagathottaam-Managiri in his constituency.

Replying, Udayakumar said the land in question has been classified as 'Kanmai,' in local records (a small lake usually used for irrigation purposes) and falls within Madurai Corporation limits.

"There are, hence, no provisions to provide free house site pattas for those living in Karumbalai Shenbagathottam, Managiri," he said.
