Press Trust of India Chandrapur (Mah)
Superintendent of police Sandeep Diwan today said that a 'no-vehicle day' would be observed in the city to curb the pollution on every second Monday, starting December 14.

"It is a small step to minimise the menace of pollution in the city. We shall start observing no-vehicle day from the second Monday of this month which is December 14, for which we shall also start campaigning to make it a success," Diwan said.

"We expect everyone to participate and avoid use of vehicles that day," said Diwan.

Suggestions from the public were welcome, he added.

Local NGOs Eco Pro, Green Planet Society, Chandrapur Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, etc., welcomed the proposal.
