Nomad injured in bear attack in J&K

A nomad was injured today when he was attacked by a bear in the upper reaches of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The victim identified as Mohammad Sardar was attacked by a bear when he was in the upper reaches of Qatar Dhar meadow, 28 kms from Bhaderwah town, where his sheep were grazing, police said.

He was rescued by other nomads and was rushed to Bhaderwah hospital, they said.

Police said man-animal conflict in the area has increased. In the past three months, 20 people were injured in bear and leopard attacks in this part of Chenab Valley.
