Northern Army Commander calls on J-K governor

Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh today called on Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik here and apprised him about the overall security situation in the valley, officials said.

Singh assured the governor of the Army's full support in maintaining peace and harmony in the state, an Army official said.

Singh, who has undertaken extensive tour to review operational preparedness of troops along the Line of Control (LoC) and hinterland, shared his views with the governor, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.

The governor and the army commander also reviewed the situation along the International Border and the Line of Actual Control.

 

Malik stressed that all security forces must act with complete co-ordination and synergy to achieve effective security on the ground, the spokesperson said.

Earlier in the day, the army commander accompanied by Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen A K Bhatt visited units deployed in Hinterland in north Kashmir and also along the LoC.

He was briefed on the prevailing security scenario and he complimented the troops for their relentless efforts in maintaining an impregnable counter infiltration and counter terrorism grid.

Expressing his satisfaction at the operational preparedness of the units, the army commander conveyed his appreciation to all the soldiers.
