Congress today rejected DMK's charge that it has been ungrateful with its any ally but steered clear of questions over M Karunanidhi's decision not to have any truck with it.

"We are not ungrateful to anybody....Happenings and incidens are guided by situations...There is no personal prejudice with any party or any individual," party spokesperson Bhakta Charan Das told reporters.

His comment was in an apparent reference to Karunanidhi's charge that the Congress always ignored the DMK and never gave it due respect.

Besides Karunanidhi had said that there was an attempt to embroil DMK in a big scandal.

Das refrained from commenting on the fall out of DMK's ruling out an alliance with Congress saying that there is a panel headed by senior leader A K Antony to look at the issue of alliances.

"Antony committee will assess the situation. Antony Committe will deal with the issue of allies," he said.

Welcoming DMK's decision to keep away from Congress, BJP national executive member L Ganesan claimed that Congress would be further weakened in Tamil Nadu in the event of the party contesting elections without the support of DMK.

He at the same time said that there is "no possibility" of BJP allying with DMK.
