Notorious criminal arrested in Doon

A notorious criminal, wanted in over a dozen criminal cases in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, was arrested here by the Special Task Force of Uttarakhand Police.

The accused, Yatendra Chaudhry, was arrested from a parking lot near the old jail here following a tip-off yesterday, police said.

Originally from Meerut in UP, Chaudhry is wanted by both Uttarakhand and UP police in over a dozen cases of heinous crimes including loot, extortion and murders, they said.

Police had recently received reports about Chaudhry issuing threats to big businessmen in the city.
