Tagore's eponymous short story Postmaster will now be made a Bengali film with a fresh cast.

"We are contemporising Postmaster keeping the story line intact. This is going to be Postmaster having the main female lead 13-year Ratan reinvented as a present day suburban girl in Bengal," actor Pujarini Ghosh, who will be essaying the character of the master story teller, told PTI.

Postmaster, directed by debutant film maker Srijon Bardhon, will go to floors shortly with the outdoor shot in Bengal's country side.

'Post Master' was among the Bard's string of short stories written in late 19th century and translated into English.

"It is not going to be a period piece. But something is universal and timeless. Like the sense of isolation of a government servant posted in a remote village and his bonding with a teenager residing in the area," Srijon said.

"My character will be a bit older than Ratan but there

Will be no tinkering with the story," Pujarini, having turned up in Mainak Bhowmik's Kolkata Calling and being part of the production team of Anindyo Chatterjee's 'Open Tee Bioscope' signed off.
