Congress students' wing National Student Union of India (NSUI) today staged a protest against the state government for alleged poor results of class 10 exams of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB).
The protest was held outside the office of district education officer (DEO) here.
Protesters also burnt the effigy of the state education minister Daljeet Singh Cheema.

They sought action against "irresponsible" teachers in government schools, who were accountable for the "poor" performance of students.
Punjab NSUI president, Iqbal Singh Grewal said that the government was not serious at all over the " poor" performance of the students.
"Students studying in government schools are the future of the state while the SAD-BJP government had ignored the education system of the state," said Grewal.
Police detained few protesters including leaders of NSUI at civil line police station and later released them after two hours.
On May 26, Punjab School Education Board had declared the results of its Class 10 exams with pass percentage of 68.61 percent.
