Aiming to revamp Lyngdoh committee guidelines and establish a better mechanism to resolve issues of students, National Students' Union of India (NSUI) will draft a bill in consultation with representatives of students union of colleges and universities across the country.
NSUI national president Fairoz Khan said a national convention will be held and students representatives from across the country will be asked attend it.
Resolutions passed in the convention will be part of the draft bill, he said.

"Cutting across party lines, parliamentarians will be invited to the convention and the draft bill will be submitted to them. They will be requested to introduce it as a private member's bill in Parliament," Khan said.
"The proposed law will apply to all students union elections across the country," Khan said.
The NSUI is demanding that direct elections be made compulsory in all colleges and varsities, the age to contest polls be reduced to 18 years and election expenditure be revised.
