Speaker Biman Banerjee after reading out accounts of the lives and work of eminent personalities said many people have died due to the "awkward situation" that has evolved due to demonetisation.

The members stood in silence for two minutes.

Referring to the incident of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's aircraft being made to hover over NSBI airport on Wednesday, the Speaker said there should be a proper inquiry to bring out the truth.
