West Bengal Assembly was adjourned on the first day of its winter session after obituary references were made in the House for those who "died due to hardship caused by demonetisation", besides personalities.
Speaker Biman Banerjee after reading out accounts of the lives and work of eminent personalities said many people have died due to the "awkward situation" that has evolved due to demonetisation.
The members stood in silence for two minutes.

A total of 13 bills will be placed in the ongoing state assembly session, which include bills on education, home and transport.
