A powerful improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected Maoists was found in Odisha's Gajapati district, police said today.
The 32-kg IED was found in the forest near Paniganda yesterday during anti-Maoist operations carried out by the district volunteer force (DVF), said SP (Gajapati), Satyajit Naik.
It is the second IED found in Paniganda, a tribal-dominated village, in the last five days, police said.
Bomb disposal squads from Paralakhemundi and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Bhanjanagar, have been dispatched to the area to defuse the IED, Naik added.
