Odisha to have more rains due to well marked low pressure

With the south west monsoon active over the state, rain soaked Odisha is likely to receive further downpour at many places during the next 24 hours due to a well marked low pressure area, IMD said.

The system created over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas of Chattisgarh and Telangana now lies over Telangana and adjoining south Chattisgarh and Vidarbha region at 0830 hours IST today, the bulletin said.

The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height, it said, adding that rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over Odisha during next 24 hours.
 

"Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over districts of north Odisha during next 24 hours," the IMD said, adding that the south west Monsoon has been active over the state as rainfall has occurred at many places over the state.

The chief amount of rainfall recorded in centimeters are Kujanga (district Jagatsinghpur) 10, Tensa (district Sundargarh) 7, Panposh (district Sundargarh) 7, Kirmira (district Jharsuguda) 7, Laikera (district Jharsuguda) 7 and Chandbali (district Bhadrak) 5.
