Old age home management, kin of inmates booked

A case has been registered against an NGO which runs an old age home here for allegedly keeping some people with psychological problems and putting them in chains, police sources said on Friday.

Promoters of the home and also people who left their parents there without bothering to know what was going on have also been booked, they said.

According to the sources, promoters of the Mamatha Old Age Home, an NGO, are running a psychological rehabilitation centre, also at their Home, unauthorisedly.

"There are many violations. Around 73 people were kept in just two small houses. Conditions in the Home are pathetic.

 

The inmates were being caned to keep them under control.Some of them are senior citizens also and some inmates were even chained, a police official said.

Cases have been booked against promoters and also people who left their parents at the home without bothering to know what was going on, he said.

All the inmates will be sent to different rehabilitation homes after due medical examination, the official added.
