Olympian Zafar Iqbal, 13 others promoted in Air India

In a bid to strengthen its top management, Air India has promoted 14 of its senior staffers as Executive Directors to be directly in charge of various facets of its operations, including former India hockey captain and Olympian Zafar Iqbal.

The promotions, announced after a gap of about 7-8 years, are aimed at filling up vacancies due to retirement and to meet the growing requirements of the airline.

While Iqbal has been promoted as ED (Properties and Facilities), a new department of Strategy and Planning has been created. Which is to be headed by Aloke Singh, who was earlier General Manager (Commercial), airline sources said.
 

Among the others promoted is A J D'Souza as ED (Finance), who also holds charge as Chief Operating Officer of Air India Express.

While S S Uberoi is to be the new ED (Ground Handling), Harpreet A de Singh would be the ED (In-flight Services), K Shyam Sunder ED (Sales and Marketing), Deepa Mahajan (ED (Personnel and Industrial Relations).
