One dead after bus catches fire

A 35-year-old disabled person, part of a marriage party, was today charred to death when a private bus caught fire here, police said.

Arun Kumar was alone inside the bus when it suddenly caught fire and was gutted at village Dollian Jattan in Rajbagh area of Kathua district, a police official said.

The marriage party had come from Changarin village, he said.

The fire got ignited shortly after the members of the marriage party left for the house of the bride leaving Kumar alone inside the bus, the official said.

Fire and emergency services personnel immediately reached the spot and doused the fire, he said adding charred body of the deceased was recovered from the damaged vehicle. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation, the official said.
