One dead in new protests in south Iraq: medical source

A man was killed today during a protest outside the headquarters of an armed group in southern Iraq, a medical source said, as authorities push to contain demonstrations.

"A civilian around 20 years old was shot dead," a medical source in the city of Diwaniyah told AFP, as rallies continued across southern Iraq against social and economic woes.
