One dies after drinking liquor bought from licensed shop

One person died allegedly after drinking country liquor bought from a licensed shop in South 24 Parganas district today, but the exact reason could be known only after postmortem examination, the police said.

A resident of Katapukuria under Joynagar police station had purchased the liquor from a licensed country spirit shop at Khakurda, also in Joynagar area.

He drank the liquor and died this morning after complaining of chest pain.

The exact reason for his death would be ascertained only after postmortem examination, the police said.

Two other deaths reported in the media as caused due to consumption of liquor was actually natural deaths, the police said adding that they had been suffering from illness.
