The Uttar Pradesh police has arrested a man for allegedly being part of a group of three, who had abducted and raped a 15-year-old Dalit girl, an official said today.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP), Sujata Singh, the incident took place late last night, when Rahul along with two other unidentified youth kidnapped the girl and raped her.
"The father of the girl, in his complaint, had named Rahul and two unidentified youths. A case has been lodged under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). We have arrested Rahul, while a hunt is on for the other accused," the SP said.
The girl has been sent for medical examination, the police official said.
