One killed in freak accident, another seriously injured

In a freak accident, a man was killed and another injured when the train door slammed on them as they were standing on its footsteps and they were thrown off into the sea off Pamban bridge, police said.

The mishap occurred while the Rameswaram-Tiruchi passenger train was crossing the Pamban bridge this evening.

While the 51-year-old man died on the spot, the other person has been hospitalised, police said.
