One worker died and eight other were hospitalised following leakage of ammonia gas at an ice factory at Chikloli MIDC in Ambernath in the district, police said today.
25-year-old Shamboo Nepali Mahanto died following the leakage of ammonia gas at the Ambernath Ice Factory shortly after midnight. Eight others also suffered from health problems due to it and were admitted to Sion Hospital, police said.
An offence has been registered against the owner of the factory Ashok Bhojwani and other workers of the factory by Ambernath police.
Investigation into the case is on.
