Vehicle owners in Uttarakhand will no longer have to go to the transport office to pay their taxes as they can now do it online using the new e-payment facility launched today by the state transport department.
With this, Uttarakhand becomes the 13th state in the country to have online payment facility for vehicle taxes, Transport Minister Surendra Rakesh said at the launch function held here.
A fleet of new buses will also be soon launched to increase the revenue of the department without hiking ticket fares, he said.
The Transport department has reduced its losses from Rs 25 to Rs 12 crore without hiking ticket fares, he said.
