More than 100 child labourers were today rescued from a ceramic factory in Morbi.
"A raid was conducted at the Sonaki Ceramic factory by the officials of the social welfare department with the help of local police. As many as 100 girls and 11 boys, mostly between 14-18 years of age, were rescued," Morbi collector I K Patel said.
"Action will be taken against the owners of the unit under relevant sections of the Factory Act and Child Labour Act. Age verification will be conducted to ascertain the ages of those rescued before we file a complaint," Patel said.
The rescued child labourers were taken to a children protection homes. The factory mainly manufactures bone china products.
