Thunderstorm coupled with heavy rains today left over 300 people injured in North Tinajpur district here, officials said.
Heavy rains and thunderstorm have been reported in Lodhan, Biprit and Goalpukur village of the district, according to District Magistrate Ayesha Rani.
Over 300 people have been injured in the incident, while 60 of them with serious injuries have been hospitalised, she said.
"We have asked the sub divisional and block development officer to submit report by tomorrow. We are still assessing the damage," Rani said.
Electricity poles, communication towers, high tension wires snapped due to the ferocious velocity of the gale, resulting in blackout in the villages. Mobile towers were also damaged.
