Over 500 contractual non-teaching staff of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan were today detained after they tried to block Moga-Ludhiana national highway, demanding regularisation of their services.
The protesting contractual employees were detained when they tried to block Moga-Bughipura crossing on the highway, police said.
They were taken away in four buses towards Badhni Kalan and Dharamkot side, police sources said.

The non-teaching staff's union had given a call of state level traffic blockade to draw the attention of the Government towards their main demand of regularisation of services.
The staff members were recruited on a contractual basis by the state under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan programme.
