Panchayat member shot dead

A panchayat member was shot dead allegedly by some unidentified persons in the Saidpur area, police said here today.

Kailash Yadav (51), a member of a local panchayat, was shot dead by three motorcycle-borne persons while he was having tea at a roadside shop here last night, they said.

Police said that prima facie, the incident seemed to be a fallout of a rivalry.
