West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra today recommended formation of a probe panel to investigate the agreement between Calcutta-Mumbai Truck Terminal Limited (CMTT) and the West Bengal Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBTIDC) signed during the Left Front regime.
Mitra said he made the proposal for commission after it was found that joint venture agreement was illegal as the CMTT were holding surplus land (42.30 acre) at Dhulagarh in Howrah district in violation of both Land Revenue Act and Urban Land Ceiling Act.
Mitra said the WBTIDC Board of directors at its 84th board meeting yesterday passed a resolution unanimously that the agreement with CMTT at Dhulagarh was made only to enable the private company hold surplus land.
Other agreements made by the WBTIDC during the Left Front rule could also be investigated.
