Parikh downs Raam to enter last four

Seventh seed Oum Parikh of Gujarat surprised second seed K S Vishisht Raam of Tamil Nadu to enter the semi-finals of the Parsram J Vazirani Memorial All India Junior Open Talent Series tennis tournament for under 12 boys and girls today.

Ahmedabad's Parikh overcame Raam 4-1, 5-3 after a 75-minute short sets contest and earned the right to meet third seed Rayyan Sayed of Maharashtra in the semi-final.

Eighth seed Rahul Verma beat fourth seed Aditya Sriram 4-2, 4-1 in another all-Maharashtra quarter final to set up a semi-final with top seed Siddhanth Bhavnani who quelled the strong challenge of qualifier Abhishek Mangle by wining 4-0, 4-5 (5-7), 4-1.
 

Among girls, Bhakti Parwani of Gujarat led the seeds into the last four. She faces third seed Akanksha Nitture of Maharashtra in the semi-final, while second seed Sanya Singh and No. 4 Anaya Thorat set up the other all-Maharashtra semi-final between two Pune-based players.

Results: Boys (Quarter-finals): 1-Siddhant Bhavnani (Mah) bt Abhishek Mangle (Mah) 4-0, 4-5 (5-7), 4-1; 8-Rahul Verma (Mah) bt 4-Aditya Sriram (Mah) 4-2, 4-1; 3-Rayyan Sayyed (Mah) bt Aryan Sharma (Mah) 4-0, 4-1; 7-Oum Parikh (Guj) bt 2-K S Vishisht Raam (TN) 4-1, 5-3.

Girls (Quarter-finals): 1-Bhakti Parwani (Guj) bt 7-Sana Khanna (Mah) 4-2, 4-1; 3-Akanksha Nitture (Mah) bt 6-Tanaaya Sah (Mah) 4-1, 4-0; 4-Anaya Thorat (Mah) bt 5-Avyakta Thorat (Mah) 4-0, 4-1; 2-Sanya Singh (Mah) bt Bela Tamhankar (Mah) 4-0, 4-0.
