Parliament will go for a four-day break from August 15 but will function on August 24 to make up for it.
While both Houses will observe a holiday on the Independence Day, they would not sit on August 16 and 21.
"... The sitting of the House fixed for Friday, August 16, 2013, may be cancelled and in lieu thereof the Lok Sabha may sit on Saturday, August 24, 2013," P C Chacko, who was in the Chair in Lok Sabha, announced today.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee and approved by the House.
It has also been decided that Parliament may sit on August 20 while the sitting for August 21 may be cancelled on account of Raksha Bandhan.
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien had announced this in the Upper House earlier, as decided by the Business Advisory Committee.
