Terming unemployment as a "challenge", Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today appealed to the business community to help the government in creating job opportunities.

"Usually, chief ministers face challenge from opposition... And some from within the party like in Delhi (referring to internal rift in AAP). Goa has no such challenge from the opposition or party colleagues, but challenge before me is that of unemployment," he said.

Speaking at the Goa Biz Fest 2015, organised by Business Network India (BNI), Parskear emphasised on developing a business-friendly milieu in the state to boost employment generation and urged the community to help the government in reaching its goals.

"You (entrepreneurs) are the right people who will help me in my endeavours. Goa has a good environment for initiating and expanding business network," he said.

BNI is a pan-India association of businessmen with its presence in 20 cities across states, including Goa.

Parsekar said businessmen setting up or expanding their enterprises help the government in creating job opportunities.

On BNI's convention, the chief minister said this event will be milestone in the history of Goa which would always be remembered and will help local entrepreneurs to widen their business and create number of jobs in the state.

"These are fertile grounds for conception of new ideas and innovations with which large number of job avenues would be created," he said.

The day-long convention will have brainstorming sessions on topics related to business opportunities and growth in the state.
