Customs officials today seized gold bars weighing two kg from a passenger who arrived at the airport here from Dubai and arrested him.
Mohammed Sahin Parambath had arrived by Dubai-Kochi Emirates flight at 9.30 AM. He was found moving suspiciously following which Air Intelligence and Customs officials frisked him. He had hid the gold bars, valued at about Rs 5.50 lakh, inside his socks, customs officials said.
UAE dirhams 25,000 (Rs 3.75 lakh) was also seized from him, they said.
Last week, 46 Samsung smart phones worth Rs 7.4 lakh were seized from a passenger who arrived here from China via Colombo.
