Gopal Krishna Patar, whose win over the then chief minister Shibu Soren from Tamar assembly by-election dethroned the JMM-led government in 2009, today said he would decide his future course after meeting people of his constituency tomorrow.

"I am a representative of the people, whose opinion at a meeting in Bundu (about 50 km from Ranchi) will decide my future course," Patar told PTI.

"Maybe, Independent or from any other party, I don't know. It's the people who will decide it," Patar said when asked whether he would contest Independently.

Known as Raja Peter, Patar had defeated Shibu Soren from Tamar (ST) in the 2009 by-election, leading to the JMM supremo's resignation from the post of chief minister.

Soren remained in the office barely for four months and failed to enter the House.

Patar then went on to retain the Tamar seat in 2009 on JD(U) ticket. Recently he quit JD(U) and joined the BJP recently, apparently with the hope that he would be given ticket from Tamar for the third time.

BJP's Jharkhand unit spokesman Pradip Sinha, however, said the national leadership yesterday conceded the seat to AJSU party as per the pre-poll tie-up between the two parties for the five-phased assembly elections beginning November 25.

"The BJP is a big party and has big leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an experienced leader and must have some good plan for Jharkhand," Patar said in reaction to the BJP's decision to allot his seat to AJSU.

"I am not disappointed with the BJP's decision as I am not a pessimist. I have always been an optimist," Patar added.
