A 'patwari' (revenue official) in Tarn Taran district was today caught red-handed by state vigilance bureau sleuths while he was allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 6,000.
According to an official spokesperson, the complainant told vigilance sleuths that he had approached Patwari Lakhwinder Singh to get a mutation done of his ancestral land.
But the patwari demanded Rs 10,000 as illegal gratification before agreeing to settle for a bribe of Rs 6,000.
Thereafter, a trap was laid by vigilance sleuths and the accused was arrested red-handed in his office today.
