The public works department minister, along with Hussanlal, secretary public works department (PWD), and the quality control team inspected the work of the Abohar bypass on May 14, an official release said.
The quality control team took samples of bitumen works and also took samples of chequered tiles being put on the central divider.
They found a large number of chequered tiles cracked or broken within 10 days of the construction, it said.
It was further observed that no cement mortar was used to place tiles as required.
The samples were taken and examined in the research lab. Preliminary investigation revealed that the quality of the two samples collected on the spot are sub-standard and fall in the rejected category of materials, release pointed out.
None of the defaulters will be spared, he added.
