Peace activist killed in NW Pakistan

A member of the local peace committee was today shot dead by unknown gunmen at his shop in this north-western city of Pakistan, police said.

Rashid Ahmed, 70, a member of local Aman Committee was gunned down by unknown assassins in the congested Naway Kalay locality in Swat district of Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

Khurshid and Zahoor, his two young sons, were also shot dead in the same shop a few years back.

According to the local police, Ahmed was sitting in his shop when some gunmen opened firing at him. He received four bullets on his body and died on the spot.
 

The police and security forces cordoned off the entire area and started search operation to nab the killers. Dozens of the local peace committee members have been killed by gunmen in Swat district so far.
