A peace rally was held here today by different organisations to protest against bandhs in Assam's Dima Hasao district.
The rally was jointly organised by various Dimasa organisations including Jadekhe Naiso Hasom, Dimasa Women Society, All Dimasa Student Union and some NGOs.
The rally began from the Haflong Cultural Institute Hall and ended at the office of the Deputy Commissioner where the protestors submitted a memorandum, opposing bandh in the district, to the Governor of Assam through the district administration.
It may be mentioned that various tribal organisations had called a 48-hour Dima Hasao district bandh from August 20 last demanding division of the district, which severely affected normal life.
