Peon accused of theft found dead in police custody in MP

A railway court peon, who was arrested in connection with a bike theft was found dead under mysterious condition inside a toilet of a police station here, police said today.
Pankaj Vaishnav (25), a resident of Gandhinagar locality was brought to MIG police station in connection with a motorbike theft case yesterday. He was posted as peon with Railway court, Superintendent of Police (East region) O P Tripathi said.
During interrogation, Vaishnav said that he wanted to go to the toilet. But when he didn't return from the toilet for quite some time, police got suspicious. A policeman peeped into the toilet from a window and found him hanging, the SP added.

He used the laces of his shoes to hang himself. Vaishnav was immediately rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, Tripathi said.
The officer said a judicial inquiry has been ordered in this regard and post-mortem of his body will be video graphed.
The SP said necessary action will be taken against any policeman who was found responsible for his death.
