A peon of a block office
was arrested on the charge of raping a member of a women's self help group in government quarters at Danagadi in Odisha's Jajpur district, police sources said here today.
The peon Ramesh Dalei alias Ramu had allegedly recorded the act committed about two months ago on his mobile phone with which he blackmailed the victim, the sources said.
It was alleged that the peon gave a drink laced with sedatives and raped her when she fell unconscious, they said.
The peon was remanded to judicial custody after a local court rejected his bail plea.
