: Farmers today urged the district administration to give permission to shoot down hedgehogs and wild boars causing damage to their crops, like banana and coconut frequently.

In a memorandum to Collector Archana Patnaik, the Coimbatore District Farmers Association said they were facing serious threat from wild boars, particularly in Sirumugai, Thondamurthur and Annur, as they cause heavy damage to the crop, leading to huge loss.
