A petrol pump manager was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Goshala road in Bihar's Bhagalpur town, police sources said today.

Two motorcycle-borne assailants stopped at Jain petrol pump last night and shot at its manager Jai Kishan Sharma from close range last night, the sources said.

Sharma, aged about 55 years, was rushed to the Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him as brought dead, they said.

A case has been lodged in this connection and raids were being carried out to nab the assailants duo, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the BJP district unit today enforced bandh in Bhagalpur town to protest the murder of the petrol pump manager who was said to be the party's active member.

Former Health minister and senior BJP leader Ashwani Kumar Chaube has condemned the incident and expressed concern at spate in crime in Bhagalpur town in recent months.
