A PIL seeking fresh polls for the Lok Sabha in Tamil Nadu alleging misuse of official machinery by the ruling AIADMK, was dismissed as withdrawn by the Madras High Court today.

The petitioner "Traffic" Ramasamy, a social activist who unsuccessfully contested as independent from the South Madras constituency, withdrew the PIL after the First Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Satish K Agnihotri and Justice M M Sundresh asked him whether the court should dismiss the petition or he wanted to withdraw it.

When the petitioner informed that he is withdrawing it, the court dismissed the petition as withdrawn.

Ramasamy in his PIL alleged that the ruling party has misused the official machinery and distributed money to voters during the polls.

Though complaints were lodged to officials who were on election duty, they have not taken any action.

He submitted that he moved the High Court as there was no response to his complaints even from the state Election Commission.
